Document design
Professional layout for reports, white papers, presentations, and infographics — materials that look the part.
What it is
Document design for academic and professional materials transforms solid content into work that communicates clearly and holds up under critical scrutiny. It is not about decoration — it is about clear visual hierarchy, consistent typography, purposeful use of white space, and the presentation of data in tables or infographics that aid comprehension rather than complicate it.
A research report, white paper, or conference presentation is more likely to be read and remembered when the visual structure guides the reader naturally. Our document design always starts from the content — we adapt the form to the substance, not the other way around.
We deliver materials in the required formats (PDF for distribution, Word or InDesign for future editing), accompanied by documented style guidelines so that your team can maintain visual consistency across future materials.
How it works
-
You send the content and brief. Provide the content-complete document together with any existing visual identity (logo, colours, fonts) and a description of the target audience and usage context (conference, institutional publication, internal presentation).
-
We analyse and propose a direction. Based on the brief, we prepare a mock-up or layout sketch for your approval before proceeding to the full version.
-
We apply the design. We build the complete layout — heading hierarchy, spacing, page grid, styles for tables, figures, and notes — and integrate all visual elements.
-
Two revision rounds included. We send the version for feedback and make the requested adjustments. The second round covers any remaining corrections. Additional revisions can be negotiated separately.
-
Delivery in agreed formats. You receive the final PDF, source files, and a short style guide document useful for future materials.
Frequently asked questions
Do you work with clients who have no defined visual identity?
Yes. If your organisation or team does not have an established document style system, we propose a visual direction suited to your context and audience, which we submit for approval before implementation.
Can materials be delivered for both print and digital distribution?
Yes, and it is advisable to request both versions from the outset. Colour and resolution requirements differ between print and screen, and preparing both formats simultaneously is more efficient than adapting one from the other later.
How long does the process take for documents over 50 pages?
For extended documents or those with a large number of tables and figures, the turnaround is determined individually after reviewing the material. We include this estimate in the custom quote.
Can we request content changes at the same time as the design work?
We recommend that the text be final before design begins — content changes after the layout has been applied can generate additional cost. Minor text adjustments can be handled within the included revision rounds.
